Damia Medical Center deals with the correction of all types of male and female infertility. So what is infertility?

If you have regular unprotected sex for 1 year without pregnancy, then you should consult a reproductive therapist. If you are over 35 years old, the period of open sexual life as a marker of infertility is limited to 6 months.

Do not be afraid – you are not alone in this problem! According to the WHO, every 6th couple in the world has difficulty achieving pregnancy. But the good news is that we can help. About 90% of patients have realized their dream of creating a complete family with timely referral to specialists.

What are the causes of infertility?
There are several main reasons. About 30% of infertility is due to the female factor, 30% – to the male, 20% – to the complex of male and female factors and 20% – of unknown origin, the so-called idiopathic.

Causes of female infertility

Ovulation issues
Widespread cause of infertility in women due to:

  • lack of ovulation due to hormonal imbalance in the syndrome
    polycystic ovaries (PCOS);
  • poor quality of eggs due to age changes (after 36 years);
  • premature ovarian failure when they stop working before
    reaching the age of 40 by a woman;
  • luteinization of an un ovulated follicle.

Once a woman’s condition is diagnosed, treatment may include monoovulation stimulation, insemination (IVI), IVF, or egg donation.

Problems with the condition of the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes

The egg enters the fallopian tube during ovulation, where it is fertilized by a man’s sperm, an embryo is formed. Then this embryo moves from the fallopian tube to the uterus. If the fallopian tube is impassable, there is no chance of getting pregnant, even though fertilization has taken place.

The causes of fallopian tube obstruction are:

  • endometriosis;
  • scar tissue;
  • inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs;
  • adhesion from the previous operation;
  • damaged ends of the fallopian tubes;
  • pelvic surgery
  • subserous myomas.

In such cases, the only solution is in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, if the problem is only partial obstruction of the fallopian tubes, sometimes their function can be restored by surgical treatment with laparoscopy of the pelvic organs. If after the operation to restore the patency of the fallopian tubes, the pregnancy did not occur within 6 months – 1 year, then – only IVF!

Take certain medications

Chemotherapy drugs have toxic and irreversible effects on the ovaries. However, the specialists of our center have achieved significant results in freezing and preserving eggs, ie programs to preserve oncofertility. If you need chemotherapy, we strongly recommend that you take care of your future and healthy children. Save your eggs before treatment!

Causes of male infertility

Sperm quality issues

The cause of infertility in men may be abnormal or insufficient sperm:

  • insufficient sperm count;
  • violation of the morphology (structure) of sperm;
  • impaired sperm motility.

Normally, a sperm sample should have a minimum of 20 million sperm per 1 ml, half of which are actively motile.

To increase sperm fertility, a variety of drugs are used, which can be prescribed only by a specialist. The introduction of ICSI technology (introduction of sperm into the cytoplasm of the egg) gives a great chance for a couple with male infertility.

Blocked channels

In each lobe of the testicle there are 1 – 4 tortuous seminal tubules, 30 to 80 cm long, in the wall of which spermatogenesis takes place. At the apex of the lobules, the tortuous tubules continue into short straight tubules, from which the vas deferens originates. Any of the above tubules can be blocked.

The testicles produce and store sperm. If they are damaged, it directly affects the quality and quantity of sperm. Testicular damage can have many causes: infections, cancer, testicular surgery, and so on.

In these cases, it is still possible to remove the semen surgically.

Take certain medications

Prolonged and excessive use of anabolic steroids reduces sperm count and affects their motility. Chemotherapy drugs can irreversibly damage spermatogenesis. In such cases, our center offers cryopreservation of sperm. Save semen before the onset of cancer treatment!

The peculiarity of treating problems with conception in our center is that we start with the simplest techniques, as close as possible to natural conception. First of all, we prefer the natural restoration of fertility in cases where it is possible.

When there are indications for the use of in vitro fertilization, our patients should know that our doctors were among the first in Western Ukraine to help infertile couples using this method. And today it is 20 years of practical experience. We often help patients who have already had an unsuccessful attempt to treat infertility at another clinic.

The efficiency of our work, depending on the cause, age and other factors, is up to 75%. Therefore, even with bitter experience, do not despair. We can offer you the best chance of parenthood!
